Purpose:

The Electrical Designer II will be a key member of the staff supporting ELECT, P.C.’s engineering department.  The Electrical Designer II will assist engineers in developing designs and technical drawings for a variety of electrical projects.

Essential Duties:

  • Using general direction from project managers and engineers, the successful candidate will be able to provide technical drafting and design services in support of electrical and structural utility engineering projects.  Typical drawings will include:
    • Relay and control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, elementaries, and interconnection diagrams
    • Substation layouts, elevations, and details
    • Duct bank plan, profile, and sections
    • Transmission line plan, profile, and details
    • Bills of materials
    • Ground grid plans and details
  • Organize and communicate the status of design tasks with project managers and engineers to allow for accurate project planning
  • Maintain drawing files per company-defined processes
  • Plot and assemble drawing sets for issue to clients and contractors

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Drafting with 8+ years of experience or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience
  • Familiarity with products typically used in utility substations and industrial medium voltage installations
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Experience with Revit, Bentley OpenUtilities Substation, or Civil 3D a plus
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must work well independently and as part of a project team

Overview:

ELECT, P.C. is an engineering and testing firm located in Wendell, NC.  ELECT, P.C. has an immediate need for an experienced Electrical Drafter to join its staff.

Purpose:

The Electrical Drafter will be a key member of the staff supporting ELECT, P.C.’s engineering department.  The Electrical Drafter will assist engineers in developing technical drawings for a variety of electrical projects

Essential Duties:

  • Draft relay and control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, elementaries, and interconnection diagrams
  • Draft substation layouts, elevations, and details
  • Draft transmission line plan, profile, and details
  • Draft bills of materials
  • Draft ground grid plans and details
  • Maintain drawing files in accordance with company-defined processes
  • Maintain adequate supply of drafting materials
  • Maintain plotter(s) in proper operating condition
  • Plot and assemble drawing sets for issue to clients and contractors
  • Understand company filing system and ensure adherence to that system
  • Understand company data
  • Assist other staff as needed

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree in electrical/mechanical drafting with 5+ years of experience or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Experience drafting for electrical engineering
  • Detail Oriented
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Must work well with others

Overview:

ELECT, P.C. is an engineering & testing firm located in Wendell, NC.  ELECT, P.C. has an immediate need for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join its engineering staff.

Purpose:

The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will assist Electrical Project Managers in various projects.  Types of projects will include substation design, electrical power system studies, substation commissioning, and supporting electrical testing activities.  The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will also assist in directing the activities of Electrical Engineering Technicians, Electrical Designers, and Drafters.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop engineering specifications, drawings, and reports for electric utility substation design packages to a high level of completion for expeditious review by the project manager.
  • Develop electrical wiring diagrams for utility substation protection and control equipment
  • Review shop drawings to ensure conformance with plans and specifications
  • Perform electrical power systems studies such as short circuit, load flow, and arc flash incident energy analyses using engineering software packages
  • Perform complex engineering calculations related to power systems analysis and design.
  • Develop protective device settings in accordance with company policy, subject to review by the project manager
  • Assist with electrical equipment testing activities (e.g. protective relay testing, LV/MV circuit breaker testing, transformer testing)
  • Provide task level direction for electrical engineering technicians, drafters, and interns
  • Work in a safe manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  •  BSEE from accredited ABET program
  • Successful completion of Engineering Principles and Practice Examination
  • Thorough understanding of three phase electrical power in high and medium voltage applications
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Ability to use engineering packages such as EasyPower, SKM, Synergee, and Milsoft to perform power systems analyses
  • Ability to use AutoCAD.

Minimum Educational Requirements: Electrical Project Engineers and Electrical Engineering Technicians are required to have obtained at least a BSEE from an accredited ABET program. All Electrical Testing Technicians must have at least an Associate’s Degree in an approved Electrical Engineering Technology program or Electrical Testing program. Experience in medium and high voltage equipment, testing, and analysis is a plus for all positions.
